History: "Don't Hang The DJ" was born on August 26th 2000 at Blå in Oslo. This concept came about at a time where apocalyptic predictions were just starting to hit club culture. A lot of people were feeling discouraged, restless and slightly bored. Instead of being a silent witness to what was unfolding before me, I decided to do something about it. My partner in crime at the time, Cecile Hafstad, and I gathered 24 of Norway's most talented DJs, grouped them in pairs, and had them spin for twelve whole hours. Nothing like this had ever taken place in Norway before, and this day became historic. "Don't Hang The DJ" is now held annually every August and has become one of Norway's most respected club concepts, thanks to all of those movers and shakers who are keeping the scene alive. This, proving once again, that people and their opinons will always come and go, but club culture will always be here to stay in both good & bad times... "Don't Hang The DJ Vol.1" is something I have been wanting to do for a very long time. Each track has been carefully chosen and put together and represents everything I stand for as a DJ. The keywords here being atmospheric flow. I have swabbed my fingers in many a genre palette, mixing house, techno, breakbeats and then some, into a collage I hope you will appreciate... "Don't Hang The DJ Vol.1" will be containing exclusive tracks from Trulz & Robin (Laminim & Cottonhead), Molo Mekaniske (Spazmodic) and Mental Overdrive to mention a few. In addition to tracks from Convextion, Fletch, Gork and Legend Of Dog. The release of this CD will be celebrated with a release party at "Don't Hang The DJ" at Blå on August 23rd. DJ Ariane |
